The global prevalence of diabetes among adults over 18 years of age was set to rise from 4.7% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2014 (Mathers CD et al, 2006). WHO (2017), projects that diabetes will be the seventh leading cause of death in 2030.
The aim of this leaflet is to give you some idea of what to look for when purchasing a pair of shoes in order to accommodate your orthotics as well as providing adequate support for your feet. Our feet support all of our body weight when we are standing and walking, it is therefore important that our feet are supported well by wearing the correct footwear.
